“Why is a place where we often get stuck.” We try to understand and can’t get past it. Instead if we go to the Lord asking, “What are You doing?” Israel is on the edge of the Promised Land but they moved to grumbling. Numbers 14: 1-12. Characteristics of WHY Thinking–Grumbling: Philippians 2: 14-18; Fear: Romans 8: 15; Self-preservation: Philippians 2:3 Characteristics of the WHAT Thinking–Brokenness: Psalms 34: 18; Expectation: Phil 3: 13; Courage: Joshua 1: 6 “Courage is doing the right thing in the face of an emotion saying you should be nervous or anxious.” WHY will keep us where we are; WHAT positions us to move toward change and promise.

Avoid Cynicism: Look for Jesus in midst of troubles; Remember God’s past miracles and works in your life; cultivate thankfulness not based on feelings; pray in the Spirit to edify yourself; take a mental vacation; “It came to pass” happens; remember that everything works out for GOOD.
How we can apply what Jesus is willing for today: to touch people, look at people and listen to people. Luke 11:1; Hebrews 3: 13; 10: 24 & 25; Matthew 18: 19 & 20; I Corinthians 14: 26
NT Covenant is the promise of salvation made by God to humans individually, based on divine grace rather than the Mosaic Laws. Prayer is the strategy; relational, face-to-face, what we bring to life together and what it brings to us. Hebrews 10: 19 & 20; Hebrews 3: 13; Hebrews 10: 24 & 25 Proverbs 27: 17
Jesus was willing to 1) touch people Matt. 8: 1-4 2) look at people Luke 19: 1-10 3) listen to people John 4: 7-27 You cannot do life together one day a week; what do you compartmentalize in life and what do you do together? Luke 11: 1 prayer John 5: 19

Our YES is powerful! Romans 6: 5-11 Three Questions: 1. where have you carried old self habits into new life in Christ? 2. What have you believed about yourself that caused you to think and act like that? 3. Who does God desire to be to you in that place?
